Monitoring and Evaluation
Leisure Futures has monitored and evaluated over 500 lottery funded sports facilities on behalf of Sport England and the Football Foundation as well as evaluating a wide range of initiatives supported with revenue by Sport England, The Youth Sport Trust and government. These include 'Positive Futures' pilot youth intervention projects initiated by Sport England and The Home Office, the 'TOPS' sports resource programme for primary schools initiated by The Youth Sport Trust, the county Youth Games programme, the StreetGames and StreetDance programmes and 'The Urban Cultural Programme' initiated by DCMS. All types of sports projects have been evaluated. Recommendations have been made and, a number of case studies and guidance documents drafted to disseminate ‘best practice’.
In 2007, Leisure Futures was commissioned by The Big Lottery to evaluate the impact of the public involvement (e.g. voting) in the Peoples Millions Regional Programme. A summary of our full report can be downloaded from the Big Lottery website. In October 2010, Leisure Futures secured a further commission to research the impact of BIG programmes on reducing rural isolation.
Leisure Futures has evaluated community sports and physical activity programmes delivered by: YMCA England (the 'Activate England' programme); Central YMCA (the 'Youth.Com' and 'Activator' Well London programmes). Leisure Futures has also advised the Football Association on the development of a monitoring and evaluation framework for its Football Development Plan including performance indicators.
